Profile Information

Jennifer is a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (DipCBT), offering appointments at Peel Park, East Kilbride. She is a member of the professional body COSCA (Counselling and Psychotherapy in Scotland) and adheres to their ethical guidelines and code of practice. Jennifer uses CBT skills to help clients make positive changes around thoughts and behaviours which are keeping them stuck and affecting their mental health. With her compassionate approach she ensures clients feel heard and able to work through their difficulties in a calm space. She collaboratively helps clients to process and reflect on their current distress, focus on what they would like to change and to become equipped with CBT techniques and strategies.

Prior to retraining as a psychotherapist, Jennifer worked for nearly 20 years as a dentist mainly treating patients with anxiety and neurodiversity. Throughout this time, she gained extensive experience in managing general anxiety and phobias, motivational interviewing and facilitating behaviour change. With true insight into the reality of working in healthcare she is passionate about improving the mental wellbeing of healthcare professionals who are experiencing stress, burnout, anxiety, low self -confidence and career dissatisfaction.

Jennifer also brings experience of providing CBT to clients who are coping with chronic illness both in coming to terms with a diagnosis, and managing pain, low mood and anxiety. She helps clients to process the sense of loss they may be experiencing and reinvest in their new reality. Jennifer integrates elements of Compassion Focused Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy through her client work ensuring it is tailor made to the individual and their particular challenges.
