Profile Information

Laura is a fully qualified Counsellor and Cognitive Behavioural Therapist, and a member of British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

As a person, Laura is warm and welcoming, and very much enjoys the process of working with her clients ~ getting to know them - their nuances, how they experience the world, their sorrows and their strengths.

Laura takes an Integrative approach to counselling - blending her expertise in CBT with traditional person-centred style counselling and other theories, tools, and techniques borrowed from other counselling models. Laura prefers this method of working as it ensures that she can best tailor her support to the particular needs of each individual. At times she may be more hands-off ~ allowing you to explore your thoughts and feelings in a safe and supported way. At other times, she may use a more proactive approach - offering psychoeducation to help you understand what you're experiencing, or teaching you a particular tool or technique to help you navigate your way through a problem. In any case, Laura will work creatively and collaboratively with you - exploring, reflecting, and strategising together.

Laura works with a broad range of topics, including Stress, Anxiety, Anxiety disorders, Panic, Phobias, Grief (including relationship loss), Trauma, Depression, Low self-esteem, Life Changes, Addictions, and support in coping with physical / medical issues such as cancer, sight loss, IBS, etc.

Laura has experience working in a range of settings, including Community Counselling services, Addiction Counselling services, Group Therapy, and Private Practice. She also has many years of working with students of counselling - providing support and feedback on their counselling skills as they work towards qualifying.

Laura can see you either in-person face-to-face, or via video chat. Appointments are available late mornings, afternoons and evenings.
